Wohoo three talibans ware killed in north Afghanistan on the 24th as a Swedish/Finnish patrol ware attacked by the talibans with RPG and assault rifles.

The Swedish RG32M (Armoured jeep made in South Africa) was hit by atleast one RPG round but it never got through. The soldiers in the patrol regrouped and went for attack which made the talibans withdrew.

The talibans later attacked once again but the Swedes and Finns held the attack and once again made the taliban combatants to withdrew.

The Swedish / Finnish soldiers ware later reinforced with NATO air support and APC (Swedish and Finnish) the firefights cept on all throughout the night, even after the reinforcements arrived

I'm so extreemly happy that we got the RM32M down in Afghanistan, would of wished they ware there earlyer so the two SF soldiers would of come out unharmed of the IED.

Read the accounts of the person in command during the rutine escort mission. They ware to link up and escort a lorry and a Toyota land cruiser. They ware traveling in a Patria (driving infront of Galten) Looks like this one:



and Galten (RG-32M).

Four RPGs ware fired towards them, two of them hit. One hit the RG-32M and one hit the Patria, Galten was hit near the fueltank and fuel pipes, Galten was imobelized but cept the crew safe while they ware still rolling forward, they then dismounted and waited for the enemy to get closer to have an upper hand (they ware only three at this time) against 11 talibans (they ware organized as of the commander, the talibans later confirmed it was them that had attacked the Swedes). One RPG hits the wheel of the Patria the fourth hits infront of the men that is in fire position.

They opened fire when they ware 25 meters away and a few droped to the ground, the talibans then opened fire which was returned (this is where the two last RPGs ware fired), there's one more firefight before they leave with the Patria meeting the reinforcement heading in. The gunfight's continue with the rapid reaction force. They ware given air support from NATO but it was never needed. This was the fourth firefights in two weeks with talibans in the north. Last was 30th Juli.

glad our guys were all ok. i hear about similar situations all the time when i was in iraq. we there to assist and rebuild but others try to force us out by shooting. the3y horrible shots and just get themselves killed. lol

Yeah this ware the talibans though, it's very rare that it's anyone else then them that are firing, the situation between the afghan people and the Swedish/Finnish are very good

The warlords are behaving as they are scared of the Swedish forces in the four provinces

One issue is that the Scandinavian forces can never open fire until they have been shot at, doesn't matter if there's a herd of talibans running towards them with guns pointed at them, all they can do is wait

Didn't know they ware pulling out, that sucks. Haven't heared anything regarding and withdrawl of Swedish troops, only thing I've heared is the oposite

Niece is being deployed to Afghanistan in October...and she is a little upset that she won't recieve a ribbon for serving with NATO forces...she was informed that NATO is pulling out just a week or two before she gets there.

What command will she be serving under? Is UN taking over? Or the Afghan "gouvernment"?

SHe will be serving under US Army command.

I guess the NATO command is sprit into each AOR instead of a unified command, sounds weird though
